Rant - Megatrends and Meltdowns
Recently in
Denver I did a seminar entitled `Megatrends and Meltdowns`. It was 2 ½ hours
on what I believe is coming our way in the coming months and years. I have to
admit that it was the most depressing seminar that I have ever done! Many
problems and conditions that have built up over the past two decades will
materialize in challenging times for us. Some of these challenging issues have
to do with demographics and politics that will have a major impact on our economy
and financial markets. Our mutual prosperity will be at risk. Great risk. It is
time to prepare. Here is the `short list` of megatrends and meltdowns coming
our way....
- In 2008,
the first wave of 78 million baby boomers will start to retire.
- Peak Oil is
becoming more evident and $100+ oil and $5+ gas is coming.
- The
Social Security system will be greatly stressed with liabilities exceeding
$40 trillion and growing by leaps and bounds
- Pro-government
politicians that promise to grow the government`s size, power and reach
are getting elected (this is a major negative). More taxes and more
regulations are coming.
- Medicare
liabilities of $44 trillion and growing (and the pending nationalization
of healthcare) will be a HUGE strain on the economy.
- The
federal government`s budget will soon exceed $2 trillion.
- Every
major currency is being inflated at double-digit rates. Inflation and
(eventually) hyper-inflation will affect you..
- Terrorism
and geo-political conflict are becoming a growing reality across the world
landscape.
- The
growth of the world`s population and its accompanying consumer demand mean
that earth`s resources will be pushed to its limits
- Concerns
over global warming mean more government intrusion into our lives. Expect
more `environmental` taxes and regulations.
Had enough?
Do you see what I mean? For some of these trends, we are at the `point of no
return.` At this point, millions of people are at risk but do not notice what
is coming. Don’t be among them. DO something to make sure your future is
safer. Here are a few things to keep in mind....
- Act as if
there will be no pension or social security in your future. You will be
better off. If there is no pension or social security, you will be
prepared. If there is a pension and/or social security in your future then
you will have a better nest egg and be even more financially secure.
- Reach for
simplicity in your lifestyle. A simple lifestyle is easier to finance than
one that is loaded with life`s consumer `goodies`.
- Start a
business. Part-time or full-time, turn your time and talents into extra
income. You`ll be glad you did.
- Invest in
`human need`. Your portfolio will soar when you include more things that
billions of people need in their lives. Food, water, energy, etc. make
excellent long-term investments.
- Embrace
(and vote for) liberty. Liberty and free markets build society; government
ultimately tears it down. See the next segment for details.
Of course
there is more you can do but if you only did these few things, you will be
farther ahead than 95% of the populace.
The Philosophy of Liberty
More
liberty means more prosperity. That single, simple point is at the core of so
much human drama in our world history. When you get a chance, PLEASE do
something that we so desperately need to know in our world today; learn,
understand and spread the simple message of human liberty ( I will tell you an
easy way to do this in a moment).
2008 is a
major election year. Except for Ron Paul, The public will decide between
politicians that want `big government` and politicians that want `bigger`
government. It is a sad commentary on our society since most of the megatrends
in place are due to big government. 2008 will probably be the most glaring
example of what has come to be known as `the fatal flaw` of democracy. The
fatal flaw of democracy occurs when people get the idea that they can vote
themselves goodies from the public treasury by simply voting in politicians
that promise them those goodies. Ultimately this leads to greater dependence on
government which in turn leads to dictatorship. If the government can control
your subsistence then it can control you. Just remember some key points....
- There is
no such thing as `government money`. The only way that government can give
you money or property is by taking it BY FORCE from someone else.
- You have
no moral right to other people`s property.
- The most
trampled right in America is that `a person has the right to the fruits of
his/her labor`.
Keeping all
of this in mind, here is what I would like to see you do:
- Please
take only 8 minutes out of your busy schedule and view a simple,
compelling and very important visual presentation called
`The Philosophy of Liberty` (see links below).
- Share it
freely with others. Share it with as many people as people.
`The
Philosophy of Liberty` is fantastic and I think that it should be seen and
absorbed by everyone. Everyone! Why? Because it cuts to the heart of so many
issues and problems that we face today (and tomorrow). Most of the problematic
issues (Yes, megatrends and meltdowns) can be solved or improved when we
embrace the concept of liberty and not fall prey to the seductive and deadly
siren song of `more government` as a sad, knee-jerk reaction to the question
`how do we make things better`.
To view the
video:
`The
Philosophy of Liberty` is made available by the folks at the International
Society for Individual Liberty (http://www.isil.org).
You can go there right now and view this great video.

The video is available in a variety of formats and languages. You can even see
it at YouTube. Share it with everyone (especially with that guy that talks
politics all the time!). And if you are inclined to do so, consider making a
donation to the ISIL (http://www.isil.org) since
they do great work on a topic that is so necessary to all of us....freedom.
